Pakistan’s top player rallies past Hong Kong’s Leung in four-game quarter-final

Pakistan’s Noor Zaman battled past Hong Kong’s Leung Chi Hin Henry 3-1 in the men’s singles quarter-finals at the Asian Games in Nagoya on Friday, reaching the last four after a fast-paced 28-minute contest.

Zaman made a confident start at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena, taking the opening game 11-7 before extending his advantage with an 11-6 second-game victory.

Leung responded in the third, winning 11-3 to keep the contest alive, but Zaman quickly regained control in the fourth game. The Pakistani folded the show 11-4 to seal his place in the semi-finals.

Earlier Asim Khan and Mehwish Ali were knocked out of the mixed doubles squash competition on Friday, losing 2-0 to Hong Kong’s Tse Yee Lam Toby and Lai Cheuk Nam in the quarter-finals.

The Hong Kong pair won 11-6 in the opening game and followed it with an 11-7 victory to complete a 20-minute win at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.

Pakistan struggled to match Hong Kong’s consistency as Tse and Lai maintained control through both games, sealing the contest without dropping a game.
