Robbers strike across Khanewal after police deployment to Islamabad

A series of robberies were reported across Khanewal district after a large contingent of police personnel was sent to Islamabad for security duties, with robbers allegedly looting hundreds of thousands of rupees and mobile phones in separate incidents.

Four armed robbers riding two motorcycles stopped Sajjad Maitla at gunpoint in Kapur Colony while he was travelling from Khanewal.

The suspects allegedly took Rs863,000 in cash and a mobile phone before tying him with ropes and leaving him in nearby fields.

In another incident, three armed men riding an unregistered Honda 125 motorcycle allegedly robbed Usama, a hardware shopkeeper in Kacha Khuh, of Rs50,000 at gunpoint. In the Movie Work area of Sadar Chichawatni police station, three robbers allegedly intercepted Farman Ali and snatched Rs60,000 and his mobile phone. In another incident near Nishan-e-Haider Petroleum in the City Khanewal police station limits, two armed men riding a Honda 125 allegedly took Rs60,000 from a local resident, Dilbar Hussain.
