Suspension after woman alleges harassment

HYDERABAD:

Hyderabad SSP Shahzaib Chachar has suspended a police constable and ordered a departmental inquiry after a woman from Lalu Lashari Goth accused him of harassment in a video circulated on social media.

According to the district police spokesperson, the SSP took notice of the video in which a woman identified as Sana alleged that she had been harassed by a police official. Acting on her complaint, the SSP suspended Sulaiman, a policeman posted at Hatri police station, and ordered a further departmental inquiry.

Police said an initial inquiry indicated that the incident stemmed from an argument involving the officer's wife, who allegedly had a dispute with the complainant and her sister.

The police spokesperson said all aspects of the incident were being examined and that further action would be taken in light of the findings of the ongoing inquiry.

The suspension comes as the department investigates the allegations following their circulation on social media.
