PM meets world leaders on UNGA sidelines

NEW YORK:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday met a number of world leaders on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), including those from Kuwait, Kenya and Somalia.

During his meeting with Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah, Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan's strong and brotherly relations with the gulf state.

The two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral ties and discussed avenues for further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The PM emphasized the importance Pakistan attaches to its relations with Kuwait.

Shehbaz also met Kenyan President William Ruto and reviewed the state of Pakistan-Kenya relations. The PM expressed Pakistan's desire to expand bilateral cooperation with Kenya in various fields, including political, economic, trade, defence, education and people-to-people contacts

Shehbaz Sharif also held separate informal meetings with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The meetings were part of the prime minister's engagements with world leaders during the opening of the UN General Assembly session.
