Suspected peddler secures bail

RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD:

A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), comprising Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas and Justice Shah Rukh Arjumand, has confirmed the interim bail of Mudassar Ali, who was nominated by an accused arrested in a 4.5-kilogramme ice supply case. The bench also restrained the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) from harassing, arresting or unnecessarily summoning the petitioner to the police station in connection with the case.

During the hearing, Supreme Court Advocate Shan Zaib Khan argued that the accused arrested in the ice supply case had nominated Mudassar Ali at the request of the investigating authorities, without any supporting evidence. He contended that a statement allegedly recorded from an accused while in police custody had no legal value unless supported by independent evidence.

The counsel maintained that Mudassar Ali was being unnecessarily harassed and called to the police station despite the absence of any evidence linking him to the case.
