FIA team 'attacked' during raid

A suspect and influential people allegedly resisted and attacked an FIA anti-human trafficking team that went to the Ratta Amral police station area to arrest a wanted suspect.

A case was registered against the suspect, a former nazim and others for allegedly holding the team hostage, subjecting its members to violence and threatening to kill them at gunpoint.

The suspects also allegedly misbehaved with a female officer.

According to police, Ratta Amral police registered the case on the complaint of Inspector Fahad Iqbal of the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Cell, Islamabad Zone.

In his complaint, he stated that an FIA anti-human trafficking team comprising himself, female ASI Ghazala Shaheen and FC Aqib Mahmood reached the area to arrest suspect Hamza Arif.

He stated that Hamza Arif, former nazim Hafiz Abdullah Butt and others not only resisted the team but also held all three members, including the female officer, hostage. The individuals allegedly subjected the team to violence with sticks, fists and rods and also mistreated the female officer.

The FIA team members sustained injuries in the violence, while the suspects allegedly continued threatening to kill them at gunpoint.

The complainant said the suspects attempted to kill members of the FIA team and requested that cases be registered against all the people involved who were present at the scene, without taking any influence into consideration. Medical reports were attached to the FIA application.

Police officials said a case had been registered on the complaint of FIA Inspector Fahad Iqbal and investigation was under way.
