Cops told about intellectual property

An awareness workshop regarding intellectual property rights was organised at the Police Lines, where senior officers, SHOs, investigating officials and Muharrirs from across the district participated.

Barrister Malik Bilal Haider delivered a lecture to the police officers regarding intellectual property rights. The officers were briefed on the provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Copyright Ordinance concerning violations of copyrights, trademarks and patents.

The barrister stated that intellectual property rights referred to the legal rights an individual or institution holds over their intellectual creations. He said protecting these rights is the responsibility of every citizen and their violations not only harm the economy but also discourage creators.
