'The Savant' finally gets a release window after Apple TV delay

Apple TV has announced a new release window for The Savant, the Jessica Chastain-led thriller that was postponed shortly before its planned 2025 premiere.

The series is now scheduled to debut in spring 2027, marking roughly a year and a half since Apple TV removed it from its release calendar. The platform initially postponed The Savant in September 2025 without providing a specific reason, saying it had decided to delay the series and would release it at a later date.

Chastain, who stars in and executive produces the series, subsequently said she disagreed with the decision. In a statement shared on Instagram, she noted that the show deals with violence in the United States and follows people working to prevent potential attacks.

The Savant centres on Jodi Goodwin, played by Chastain, a veteran, wife and mother who works undercover in online communities where white supremacists gather and, in some cases, discuss domestic terrorist attacks.

Creator Melissa James Gibson developed the series from journalist Andrea Stanley’s 2019 Cosmopolitan article, “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?”

The show’s release has remained uncertain since its postponement. Although The Savant continued to appear on Apple TV’s press website, the streamer repeatedly delayed announcing a premiere date.

Chastain said earlier this year that the series would eventually reach audiences, while reports subsequently suggested several possible release windows that passed without a premiere.

The latest scheduling places The Savant after the November 2026 US midterm elections. Apple TV has not yet announced an exact premiere date.

The series is among several upcoming Apple TV productions led by prominent female actors and will now return to the platform’s release calendar for spring 2027.
