Suspect arrested over alleged rape, blackmail

Police claimed to have arrested one of two suspects after a girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and a video of the incident was circulated on social media in the Treda Makhnewala area of Kanganpur police station.

According to the FIR registered on the complaint of the girl's father, Hamid, two suspects, identified as Ali Hamza and Allah Rakha, were booked in connection with the alleged assault and circulation of the video.

According to the FIR and the victim's family, the incident began around five to six months ago when the girl visited a shrine to pay her respects.

The suspects allegedly took her photographs and videos there and later began blackmailing her using the material.

The family alleged that Ali Hamza subsequently blackmailed the girl into meeting him at a location where he allegedly assaulted her, while Allah Rakha allegedly recorded the incident on video.

The suspects allegedly later circulated the video on social media, prompting the girl's family to approach police.

Kanganpur police registered a case and arrested Ali Hamza, described by police as the main suspect. Allah Rakha remains at large, police said.

The police said the girl had been shifted to a government hospital for medical examination and further legal proceedings.
