KDA given one month to resolve plot dispute

A constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court on Saturday granted the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) one month to propose a solution to the issue of encroachments on commercial plots in Baldia Town.

The bench was hearing a petition challenging encroachments on commercial plots in Baldia Town. Advocate Fazlur Rehman submitted that part of the commercial plot LS-16 belonging to petitioner Khalid Latif had been occupied, making it difficult for him to use the property.

The court observed that the petitioner had approached the court after construction had already taken place in the surrounding area. "The situation now is that securing your rights may cause hardship to others," the bench remarked.

KDA counsel Naeem Khursheed Advocate submitted that the petitioner was not the only affected person in the area, as several plots had become mixed up with one another. He said a decision in favour of one petitioner could lead to further cases based on the same grounds.
