MQM-P calls for arrest of teen's killers

MQM-Pakistan lawmakers in the Sindh Assembly have demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killing of a 16-year-old Hafiz-e-Quran during a robbery in Mehran City, Manghopir, alleging that men dressed in police uniforms were behind the crime.

In a letter to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the lawmakers expressed concern over the killing of Roshan Hussain Khan, the only brother of eight sisters, and urged the provincial government to take immediate action against those responsible.

According to the lawmakers, Roshan was killed during a robbery by armed men wearing police uniforms. They said the victim's family staged a protest outside the police station with his body and postponed his burial while demanding justice. The body was later shifted to an Edhi morgue.

The lawmakers claimed that the incident was the fifth consecutive case of men in police uniforms allegedly breaking into homes and carrying out robberies in PS-118.

They criticised the provincial government and its Home Department over the deteriorating law and order situation, alleging that the home minister was focused on visits to police stations and photo opportunities rather than taking effective measures against street crime.

"An ordinary citizen in Karachi is completely unsafe," the lawmakers said, adding that people were increasingly vulnerable to robbery even in their homes and on the streets.
