Sit-in demands justice for teen

A protest sit-in by the family and residents of Manghopir continued on Thursday against the killing of 16-year-old Hafiz-e-Quran Rosham Khan during a house robbery, with Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) leaders joining the protesters and demanding the immediate arrest of the suspects. They called for the culprits to be arrested without delay and for the bereaved family to be provided justice.

PML-F Karachi Division Information Secretary Osama Jafri said Sindh Home Minister had been visiting various police stations over the past week, but the demands of the Manghopir protesters also required concrete action.

He said the victim's family alleged that some of the armed men involved in the robbery were wearing police uniforms, and called for a complete and impartial investigation into the claim.

"Police uniform is a symbol of protection for citizens," Jafri said, adding that investigators should establish whether the uniform was used during the crime and by whom.

He said if the investigation established the involvement of any police officer, or anyone who had impersonated a police officer by using a police uniform, the person should face legal action.
