Sleuths net murder, abduction suspect

Ratta Amral police have arrested Adnan Butt alias Topa, the main suspect accused of torturing and shooting dead a married Christian woman and subsequently abducting her brother, keeping him in illegal confinement and forcing him to take responsibility for the killing.

A video of the suspect allegedly threatening neighbours and firing while armed in the area a few months ago has also surfaced.

According to police, suspect Adnan Butt alias Topa entered the house of Saba Mehboob, a married woman who was living at her parents' home due to differences with her husband.

He allegedly subjected her to torture and shot her dead before fleeing. While leaving, he allegedly abducted her brother and took him along with him, kept him in illegal confinement and threatened him to take responsibility for the killing or tell the police nothing.

He released him after several hours.

Meanwhile, when the victim's family, gripped by fear, was going to perform her last rites, police approached the affected family after receiving information.

On the complaint of the victim's brother, a case was registered against the main suspect, Adnan Butt alias Topa, son of Lachhan, and others.

The suspect, who had previously been booked in cases under serious allegations and has a criminal record, fled and went into hiding.

The serious incident was taken notice of at a high level, and Rawalpindi CPO constituted a police team headed by SSP Rawal Bedar Bakht Gondal. The team used technical and human intelligence sources to arrest the suspect.

SP Rawal Bedar Bakht Gondal said the suspect would be challaned on the basis of solid evidence.

Meanwhile, a video of Adnan Butt alias Topa allegedly abusing, threatening neighbours and firing in the locality has surfaced. The viral video is said to be a few months old, in which the suspect can be seen and heard using inappropriate language for the police as well.

The viral video shows Adnan Butt alias Topa carrying a pistol in a street and hurling abuses. The suspect can be seen repeatedly challenging someone in the street. Residents can also be heard and seen trying to persuade him to stop.

However, Adnan Butt is seen and heard abusing and threatening someone after spotting the person in a window. During this, the suspect also fires at the person, but several people are seen repeatedly stopping him, causing the bullet to go into the air.
