Remand extended in Hina murder case

RAWALPINDI:

Area Magistrate and Civil Judge Asim Mumtaz has extended the judicial remand of the suspects arrested in the brutal murder case of digital designer Hina Javed - her husband Sohail Asghar and employee suspect Zeeshan Arshad - while expressing displeasure over the failure to submit the challan in the case despite a court order.

The court reprimanded the police and directed them to submit the challan at the next hearing at all costs. The judicial remand of both suspects was extended until Sept 30, and they were ordered to be produced before the court on that date along with the challan.

Both suspects were produced before the court from Adiala Jail in compliance with the court order.

The issue concerning the submission of separate bail petitions by two lawyers of the suspect was also resolved.

The suspect, in his report submitted before the court, declared Junaid Hassan Advocate as his lawyer. As a result, M. Hamza Advocate withdrew from pursuing the suspect's bail petition.

Following this, the said advocate will pursue the suspect's bail petition before the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasir Ahmed on Sept 19. Shah Khawar Advocate will appear on behalf of the victim's heirs.

After the hearing, both suspects were sent back to Adiala Jail.
