Heated Rivalry season 2 is officially in production, with HBO chief Casey Bloys sharing an enthusiastic update on the hit hockey romance drama and its upcoming return.

Speaking after the 2026 Emmy Awards, Bloys confirmed that Heated Rivalry season 2 is currently filming. The series, which is produced by Canada’s Crave and licensed by HBO, became a major success following its first season.

Bloys also revealed that HBO is planning a major New York premiere for Heated Rivalry season 2 in spring. While he did not provide an exact premiere date, the event is expected to give the drama a prominent return as anticipation continues to build around its second season.

The HBO executive said he has already seen scripts for the upcoming season and expressed strong enthusiasm about what creator Jacob Tierney and the team are developing. When asked whether the second season could match the success of the first, Bloys said he has no doubt in Tierney’s abilities and is eagerly awaiting the new episodes.

Bloys also praised Heated Rivalry’s performance, describing it as HBO’s “greatest acquisition in the history of television”. His comments highlight the significance of the series for HBO following its breakout success.

The update comes as fans await the continuation of the story centred on hockey rivals Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov.
