HBO’s Harry Potter series adds three major Hogwarts characters
HBO’s Harry Potter series casts Rafe Spall, Molly Hewitt-Richards and Jasper Ambrose for season 2 as filming continues

HBO’s Harry Potter series has added three new cast members for season 2, with Rafe Spall, Molly Hewitt-Richards and Jasper Ambrose joining the wizarding world.
Spall will play Arthur Weasley, the pure-blood wizard and Ministry of Magic employee who is also the father of Ron Weasley. The recurring role was previously played by Mark Williams in the Harry Potter film series. Spall is known for his work in Trying and Under Salt Marsh. His casting also marks another connection to the franchise, as his father, Timothy Spall, portrayed Peter Pettigrew, also known as Wormtail.
Hewitt-Richards has been cast as Moaning Myrtle, the ghost who haunts the second-floor girls’ bathroom at Hogwarts. Shirley Henderson previously played Myrtle in the films. Hewitt-Richards has appeared in the BritBox series Code of Silence and BBC drama Casualty.
Ambrose will portray Colin Creevey, the young Gryffindor student who becomes an enthusiastic admirer of Harry Potter. Colin first appears in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, where he is frequently seen carrying a camera around Hogwarts. Hugh Mitchell played the character in the 2002 film, although Colin did not return for the remaining movies.
The three actors join the Harry Potter season 2 cast as filming continues at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK. Other new additions include Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Lenny Rush as Dobby and Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle.
The HBO series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, while Mark Mylod will direct multiple episodes. The show is being produced in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
