Indonesian Navy chief praises Pakistan Army's role in regional peace during meeting with CDF Munir

Indonesian Navy Chief Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali praised the Pakistan Army’s role in regional peace during a meeting with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir, the military’s media wing said in a statement.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Admiral Ali called on CDF Munir at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, where matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed.

"The two sides expressed satisfaction over the existing military-to-military relations and reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in the domains of professional training, defence collaboration and joint exercises," the statement said.

The ISPR said CDF Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding and brotherly relations with Indonesia, particularly in the defence and security domains.

"Admiral Ali appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions towards regional peace and stability," it said.

In January, Indonesia's Minister of Defence Lt Gen Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (retd) had expressed the desire to further expand defence ties with Pakistan across multiple domains in a meeting with CDF Munir.

Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening institutional linkages, training collaboration, and defence industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia, the statement added.

The visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

A defence delegation led by Indonesia defence minister also called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

The meeting reaffirmed the historic and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Indonesia and focused on strengthening bilateral Air Force cooperation, particularly in capacity building, training and technological collaboration.

The air chief briefed the delegation on PAF's modernisation drive, including infrastructure development, revamped training and induction of niche capabilities to enhance readiness for multi-domain operations.

The Indonesian defence minister praised PAF's professionalism, combat readiness and indigenisation achievements under the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park, and expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation in training, aviation and aerospace domains.
