Welfare aid reaches workers

RAWALPINDI:
The Punjab government has issued cheques for long-pending welfare grants to provide financial assistance to industrial workers, with cheques worth Rs9 million distributed among 130 workers in the Rawalpindi Division.
Field officers have also been mobilised to ensure the payment of the minimum prescribed wage and safeguard the financial, social, health, educational and legal rights of workers employed in the private sector and industrial establishments.
The cheques were distributed at a ceremony organised by the Labour Welfare Department in Rawalpindi. MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed, Divisional Director Labour Ghulam Shabbir Kalyar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jam Aftab and Assistant Director Punjab Workers Welfare Fund Lahore Abdul Rehman distributed the cheques among industrial workers.
