PML-N begins local govt poll preparations

LAHORE:

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to begin preparations for local government elections in Punjab.

In a meeting chaired by PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah, the party's office-bearers were instructed to intensify preparations for the elections and public outreach across the province.

It was ordered that all vacant organisational positions of the party in the province be filled at the earliest.

Party office-bearers presented their proposals and the divisional leadership was directed to give priority to loyal and long-serving workers, particularly those who had stood by the party during difficult times, in the local government elections.

A roadmap for the election preparations will be finalized and submitted to the party leadership.

The office-bearers in all districts were directed to remain active and launch a vigorous campaign at the divisional, district, tehsil and union council levels.

The participants were informed that the local government elections in Punjab would be held in phases.

The issue of the formation of new provinces also came under discussion and the PML-N Punjab leadership said the matter should be debated in Parliament.
