Two booked over 'forged Nikah'

Model Town police registered a case against a groom, a Nikahkhwan and two witnesses for allegedly solemnising a nikah with a married woman and preparing a fake nikahnama.

According to the complainant, he married the woman in 2017 and had two children with her. He alleged that Babar Hussain had abducted his wife, for which a separate case had already been registered.

The complainant later approached the Assistant Commissioner, Burewala, for verification of the nikahnama. Documents obtained during the process allegedly showed that the nikah had been solemnised at Chak 435-EB by Qari Muhammad Yousaf.

He alleged that the relevant persons later acknowledged their mistake and apologised. The complainant termed the nikahnama fake and fabricated and sought legal action.

On his complaint, police registered a case against Qari Muhammad Yousaf, Talib Hussain, Muhammad Aslam and Babar Hussain under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Further investigation is under way.
