Paraglider dies in Chitral accident

Asif Mahmood, a retired Navy commando, expert diver and paragliding pilot associated with Khanpur Dam, was killed in an accident during paragliding in Chitral.

According to rescue sources, Asif Mahmood went missing during paragliding in Buni area of Upper Chitral due to bad weather, following which a rescue operation was launched to locate him.

Asif Mahmood had been paragliding in Buni area of Upper Chitral on Thursday. His contact was lost at around 2pm due to bad weather, after which a search for him was launched. Rescue teams conducted a search operation in the difficult mountainous terrain.

According to rescue sources, the search had continued since Thursday and on Friday, rescue teams recovered the body of Asif Mahmood from the mountains of Buni in Upper Chitral.
