Man held for wife's murder

Police have arrested a man five days after he allegedly killed his pregnant wife with axe blows over a financial dispute, officials said.

According to police, Matro police arrested Imran on the direction of Vehari DPO Tasawwar Iqbal in connection with the alleged killing of his wife, Tehmina Bibi.

Police said the suspect allegedly attacked Tehmina with axes following a dispute over money. After the incident, he allegedly fled and went into hiding. SDPO Mailsi Circle Rao Tariq Parvez led the operation, while SHO Matro Zubair Ahmed Sandhu and a police team used investigative techniques and other resources to trace and arrest the suspect within five days.

DPO Tasawwar Iqbal appreciated the performance of the police team and said the arrest of suspects involved in serious crimes and bringing them before the law was a priority.
