QUETTA:

A bridge on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway was blown up in Kalat while a separate attack on a police post in Mastung left a constable martyred and another injured, police said.

In Kalat, unidentified individuals used explosives to damage a bridge in the Marjan area. The blast occurred as a passenger coach was crossing the bridge, leaving several passengers injured. The injured were shifted to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Hospital in Mastung for treatment.

The explosion damaged the bridge and disrupted traffic on the national highway, although vehicles are being diverted through an alternative route.

In a separate incident in Mastung's Kank area, unidentified armed men opened fire on a police post during the night. Constable Izzatullah was martyred, while Constable Naseebullah sustained injuries.

Police returned fire, forcing the attackers to flee. A heavy contingent of police and security forces reached the area and cordoned it off following the attack.

The body of the martyred constable was handed over to his family after completion of necessary legal formalities. Police said investigations into both incidents were underway.
