Rosé announces new single 'new trick' with iPhone 18 Pro music video
Rosé's upcoming track will arrive alongside an Apple campaign highlighting iPhone 18 Pro camera technology

Blackpink star Rosé is preparing to return with a new solo single, "new trick", with the track set to arrive alongside a music video filmed entirely on Apple’s newly unveiled iPhone 18 Pro.
Rosé announced the release through social media, revealing that "new trick" will be released on September 18. The music video has been directed by Dave Meyers and forms part of Apple’s long running "Shot on iPhone" campaign. Current reports place the song’s release across different time zones, with the track arriving on September 17 in some regions before becoming available on September 18 in others.
The announcement comes just one day after Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple says the new Pro models feature a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, giving users greater control over depth of field and low light photography. The phones also introduce expanded professional camera controls and upgraded video capabilities.
The connection between Rosé’s new music and Apple’s latest technology is already visible in the promotional material released for the song. In the newly revealed footage, Rosé can be seen holding a lollipop featuring the words "new trick" while a preview of the upcoming track plays. The visuals have immediately drawn attention because the project places the Blackpink singer at the centre of a major showcase for Apple’s newest camera system.
Meyers is also a familiar creative collaborator for Rosé. He previously directed the music video for Blackpink’s 2025 song "Jump", making his involvement in "new trick" another link between the singer and the filmmaker. His previous work across major music campaigns has included projects for several internationally recognised artists.
The new single follows Rosé’s hugely successful solo period after the release of her debut studio album Rosie in 2024. The record featured "APT.", her collaboration with Bruno Mars, which became one of the biggest global pop hits of the period. It also included songs such as "Toxic till the end", further establishing Rosé’s solo identity after her Blackpink debut in 2016.
"New trick" arrives as Rosé continues to build on that solo success while remaining a member of Blackpink. The group, which also includes Jisoo, Jennie and Lisa, has become one of the most internationally recognised K pop acts, while each member has pursued individual music and entertainment projects.
The timing also gives Rosé’s new release a direct connection to one of Apple’s biggest product launches of the year. The iPhone 18 Pro is scheduled to become available on September 18, following preorders beginning September 12. Apple has highlighted its upgraded camera system as one of the central features of the new device.
With Meyers behind the camera and Apple using the project to showcase its latest technology, "new trick" is shaping up as a significant new chapter in Rosé’s solo career. The song’s release will reveal whether the playful teaser translates into another major pop moment for the singer
