
The provincial education authorities ordered disciplinary action against 35 female teachers from different government schools of the district on Wednesday for being absent from duty.
During a surprise check of government middle schools Bherkund, Bherkund No 2, Kulharay, Chity Dheri, Bhogarmang and Khaki, Education District Officer Shamim Akhtar found 35 teachers absent from their duties.
Two of the teachers have reportedly been absent from duty for the last two years and have been paying two other women Rs2,000 per monthly to cover for them, though neither of them are employees of the education department, nor have any teaching qualifications.
The district officer served the teachers with show-cause notices and has withheld their salaries till a satisfactory reply is submitted.
She also ordered the forfeiture of one day’s salary from each of the absent teachers.
