Iqbal seeks consensus on curriculum framework

ISLAMABAD:

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday called for a high-level committee to comprehensively review the National Curriculum Framework 2026 and urged political parties, provincial lawmakers and other stakeholders to build consensus on the framework.

He made the remarks while chairing the first meeting of the Steering Committee of the Danish School Authority, which reviewed its restructuring, human resource needs, financial implications, and governance and administrative structure.

The meeting also considered the five to 10-year financial sustainability of Danish schools, teachers' training and a roadmap for implementing proposed reforms.

Iqbal directed that the National Curriculum Framework 2026 be sent to the premier for a detailed review so that he could constitute a formal committee to examine the framework and help prevent any future issues. He stressed that a broad-based consensus on the curriculum framework was essential, saying all political parties and relevant stakeholders should be taken on board.

The education secretary briefed the committee that the Danish School model was entirely based on providing free education to underprivileged students.
