Disqualification Plea: Petitioner applies for immediate hearing

LAHORE:

The chief justice of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday referred an application to Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh seeking early hearing of a petition for the disqualification of PML-Nawaz MNA Mian Javed Latif, who was elected from NA-133, Sheikhupura.

Petitioner Muhammad Sarfraz applied for immediate hearing of the case, and the chief justice referred his application to the Justice Sheikh, who was already presiding over the case.

The petitioner says the MNA was a cheat and had paid someone to take the BA exams for him. This meant he did not qualify to be a member of the National Assembly as he did not meet the honesty condition outlined in Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
