Court reserves verdict on plea against load-shedding

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday reserved its verdict on a petition challenging alleged illegal load-shedding by K-Electric and violations of regulatory rules.

The petitioner's counsel argued that even consumers who regularly pay their electricity bills were being subjected to illegal and unjustified load-shedding. The petitioner, Syeda Maria Raza, is a resident of Haji Limo Goth, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Block 3. He alleged that K-Electric authorities were refusing to comply with judicial and regulatory orders and urged the court to immediately restrain the power utility from carrying out unjustified, discriminatory and illegal load-shedding. K-Electric's counsel, however, argued that NEPRA had already issued a stay order in favour of the petitioner and maintained that the petition was not maintainable.
