PTI won't be cowed, says K-P minister

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Science and Technology Shafi Jan has termed the blocking of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi's route and the creation of barriers to obstruct his political activities in Hyderabad and Karachi highly regrettable, saying Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would not be intimidated by what he described as fascist and desperate tactics.

Commenting on the ongoing Street Movement in Sindh led by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Shafi Jan said unprecedented public participation from Ghotki to Umerkot, Tando Allahyar and Hyderabad had transformed the province's political landscape.

He said the remarkable scenes witnessed during the movement indicated the emergence of a new political era in the country which, he claimed, could no longer be stopped. According to the minister, the people of Sindh had expressed their desire for political change and demonstrated extraordinary enthusiasm for PTI founding chairman Imran Khan. Shafi Jan said the public had made it clear that it was prepared to struggle for the restoration of its mandate, protection of democratic rights and the release of Imran Khan.

Criticising the reported placement of barriers and digging of trenches along routes leading to Hyderabad and Karachi, he questioned who was responsible.
