Message from abducted cop's phone demands Rs1m ransom

A police constable and his friend were allegedly abducted by armed men, including some in police uniforms, from Manghopir, while Rs2.3 million reportedly kept in the constable's car was also found missing.

The abducted policeman's mobile phone was later allegedly used to send a message to his brother demanding Rs1 million in ransom.

Manghopir police registered a case on the complaint of the constable's brother and handed the investigation over to the AVCC.

According to the FIR, Hassan was informed by a friend around noon on Sunday that some policemen had forcibly taken his brother Abbas and his friend Talha near a scrap dealer's shop in Umar Goth.

Hassan said he rushed to the spot and saw several armed men, some wearing police uniforms and others in plain clothes, taking the two men away. When he questioned them, they allegedly claimed to be personnel of the AVLC.
