ASF apprehends two suspects at Islamabad airport

Suspects allegedly planned to provide private services to airport visitors

Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel detained two suspicious individuals at Islamabad International Airport on Sunday and handed them over to police, who subsequently registered a case against them.

According to officials, the ASF detained the two men after observing suspicious behaviour and shifted them to the control room for detailed checking.

During the search, allegedly fake identification cards of service-providing companies and fake driving licences were recovered from their possession.

The suspects, identified as Rafique and Umar Farooq, were subsequently handed over to the Airport Police. A case was registered against them on the complaint of ASF Inspector Waseem under charges relating to fraud and deception.

Police said the search also led to the recovery of allegedly fake cards and driving licences, a laptop, three mobile phones, a USB device and a shoulder bag, among other items.

Police officials the two men appeared to have been present at the airport to provide private services to passengers and other visitors, but the exact circumstances would become clear once the investigation was completed.

Earlier this week, a suspicious vehicle entered the airport premises through the main entrance and was stopped by ASF personnel after they opened fire. Following the incident, security at the airport has been placed on high alert, with increased monitoring of suspicious individuals.
