Islamabad LG polls face roadblock
Islamabad's local government elections face yet another setback after the ordinance governing the capital's local government system expired on Sept 6.
Meanwhile, a high-level committee has submitted a separate proposal to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the creation of an ICT Assembly with its own chief executive and 27 administrative departments.
Under the proposal, the 27-member assembly would comprise 21 directly elected members, along with five reserved seats for women and one seat for minorities.
It also proposes bringing health, education, environment and civic services under the local government.
