ATC seeks fresh report in Radio Pakistan arson case

A special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Peshawar on Saturday sought a fresh report from the investigating officer in the case relating to the attack and arson at the Radio Pakistan Peshawar building during protests on May 9 and 10 following the arrest of the PTI founder.

ATC Judge Wali Muhammad Khan presided over the hearing, which was attended by lawyers representing the accused, Radio Pakistan and the prosecution.

Counsel for the accused, Ali Zaman Advocate, informed the court that a report sought in light of findings from the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had not yet been submitted.

The investigating officer requested additional time from the court to complete and present the report. The prosecution informed the court that nine accused persons in the case were still absconding.

According to the prosecution, a group of protesters attacked the Radio Pakistan Peshawar building on May 9, 2023, setting parts of the premises on fire and causing damage to public and private property. Police nominated several PTI leaders and workers in the case, including provincial minister Meena Khan and members of the provincial assembly Asif Khan and Fazal Elahi.
