Two shot dead in CCD 'encounters'

Two suspected robbers with criminal record were killed in police encounters, while their four accomplices escaped.

Peoples Colony police stopped two suspected robbers near Jhal Bridge but they opened fire and fled towards the Railway Ground.

During an exchange of fire, 56-year-old Amir, a resident of Khanewal,

was injured allegedly by firing from his accomplices and later died at Civil Hospital.

The police said Amir had been wanted in dozens of cases of robbery, motorcycle theft and other crimes in Faisalabad and other districts.

He had also allegedly used fake identity cards under different names to conceal his identity.

In another incident, CCD personnel intercepted three suspected robbers near Kaniyan Bangla.

The police said the suspects opened fire, triggering an exchange of fire in which Shahbaz, a resident of Sahiwal and a suspect in at least 16 cases of robbery snd resisting arrest, was critically injured by bullets fired by his accomplices, the police claimed.

He later died in a hospital. The oolice shifted both bodies for medico-legal procedures and launched investigations.
