Case registered against female in-laws of SSP Korangi

KARACHI:

The Darakhshan police have registered a case against female in-laws of SSP Korangi Fida Hussain Janwari and others on the complaint of a woman who alleged that she was assaulted during a dispute.

Earlier, the former SHO of Darakhshan had allegedly acted with bias by registering a case against the complainant and her brother on the complaint of a female relative of the SSP, and arresting them from their home.

It may be recalled that CCTV footage of the dispute and alleged assault surfaced on August 28. The Karachi police chief took notice of the incident on August 29 and directed the DIG South to complete an inquiry and submit a report.

According to the inquiry report submitted by the DIG South, it was recommended that the registered case be placed in B-Class. The report also held SSP Korangi Fida Hussain Janwari and several police personnel responsible and recommended departmental action as well as registration of a case against them.

The inquiry reportedly found administrative negligence on the part of SSP Fida Hussain Janwari and recommended departmental proceedings against him. It also recommended registration of a case against the SSP's mother-in-law, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, four District Korangi police personnel who were allegedly present at the scene, and other relevant officials.
