'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' becomes fastest film to cross $900m at domestic Box Office

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has made box office history after becoming the fastest film ever to surpass $900 million at the domestic box office.

The Marvel and Sony blockbuster crossed the milestone in just 36 days, surpassing the previous record held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which took 50 days to reach $900 million in North America.

The achievement makes Spider-Man: Brand New Day only the second film ever to cross $900 million domestically. The film reached the landmark during the Labor Day holiday weekend as it continued its remarkable run at the top of the North American box office.

Starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has dominated the domestic box office since its release and was heading towards a sixth consecutive weekend at No. 1. The film had already earned $891.5 million domestically by the end of its fifth weekend.

The latest milestone puts the film within striking distance of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its $936.6 million domestic total, which remains the all-time North American box office record. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now positioned to potentially overtake that figure if its strong theatrical run continues.

The film has also become a major global success. Its worldwide total has surpassed $2.3 billion, placing it among the highest-grossing films in cinema history.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Holland's Peter Parker after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Zendaya and Jon Bernthal also star in the Marvel film.

The record-breaking performance comes during an exceptionally strong summer for Hollywood. The 2026 summer box office generated around $4.6 billion in ticket sales between May and August, representing a significant increase from the previous year, with films including Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey driving audiences back to cinemas.

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day already past $900 million domestically, attention now turns to whether the film can overtake The Force Awakens and claim the biggest domestic box office total of all time.
