QUETTA:

Balochistan Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau has criticised what he described as inconsistent political positions on terrorism, saying some political leaders change their stance depending on whether they are in government or sitting in the opposition.

Speaking in Quetta, Langau said certain politicians strongly condemn terrorism while holding positions of power but adopt a different approach after leaving government. He warned that such contradictory positions could create uncertainty and undermine efforts to develop a united and effective national response to terrorism.

Referring to political leaders, including Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Langau said politicians sometimes become more outspoken on security and terrorism-related issues after leaving government.

The provincial home minister also referred to the political environment of 2008, saying that some leaders who now maintain a firm position against militant groups had previously supported negotiations and dialogue with them.

Langau stressed that terrorism should never be treated as a political issue.
