Qadir leads Pakistan Under-19 charge against England

Abdul Qadir struck a fluent 66 as Pakistan U19 reached 257-6 at stumps on Thursday, trailing England U19 by 76 runs on the second day of their four-day Youth Test at Arundel Castle.

England resumed on 264-5 and were bowled out for 333, with Bertie Michael top-scoring with 131 from 235 balls, including 21 fours.

Rizwanullah took 3-63 while Abdul Subhan, Mohammad Sayyam and Ahmed Hussain claimed two wickets each as Pakistan wrapped up the innings for 69 more runs.

Pakistan then made a steady start, with Usman Khan and Aliyan Salman adding 56 for the opening wicket before both fell for 28 to Manny Lumsden.

Qadir kept the innings moving with an attacking 66 off 54 balls, hitting 10 fours and two sixes.

Ahmed Hussain added 35 off 66 balls and captain Farhan Yousaf made 21, while Hamza Zahoor struck 26 off 25.

Pakistan slipped to 218-6 before Hasnain Abbas Dar and Sayyam halted the slide with an unbeaten 39-run partnership.

Hasnain was 26 not out from 83 balls and Sayyam unbeaten on 11 as Pakistan closed on 257-6 after 65 overs.

Lumsden was England’s leading bowler with 3-44.
