ATC hints at Imran jail trial in Barakahu case

ISLAMABAD:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad on Thursday hinted that the jail trial of PTI founder Imran Khan could also be conducted in a case registered against him at the Barakahu police station.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra made the remarks while hearing the case registered under terrorism charges.

The judge said Imran's jail trial in another case was about to begin, adding, "who knows, it may begin in the case pending before me".

The court had earlier written to the Ministry of Law seeking its opinion regarding the possibility of conducting Imran's jail trial in the case. However, no response was received from the ministry.

PTI lawyer Murtaza Turi asked the court whether the law ministry had responded to its letter. The judge smiled and called the next case.

The case against Imran was registered at the Barakahu police station.

As the PTI founder was not available for the proceedings, the court adjourned the hearing without further proceedings until Oct 29.
