Alanis Morissette sues former tour manager Keren Urinov over alleged blackmail tied to a U.K. airport drug incident

Alanis Morissette has filed a lawsuit against her former tour manager Keren Urinov, accusing her of attempting to extort the singer over an alleged drug-related incident at a U.K. airport.

According to court documents filed on Sept. 1 and obtained by PEOPLE, Morissette claims Urinov, who worked as her tour manager in 2025, launched what her legal team describes as a “calculated blackmail campaign”. The singer is seeking more than $75,000 in damages.

The lawsuit centres on an incident that allegedly occurred while Morissette and her team were travelling to Spain for a performance. According to the complaint, Urinov was stopped and detained for inspection at a U.K. airport while travelling with the singer and was allegedly told that a bag contained marijuana and xylazine.

Morissette claims Urinov subsequently told her and members of her team that authorities had issued a seizure notice relating to the substances. The tour manager allegedly showed officials an Israeli medical marijuana licence and was released, according to the filing.

Following the 2025 tour, Urinov and her lawyer allegedly sent Morissette letters threatening legal action. The singer claims Urinov demanded that she identify the drugs as hers or face a lawsuit.

The complaint further alleges that Urinov offered to end the dispute if Morissette agreed to a 15-year employment contract with compensation equivalent to a tour director’s salary, along with raises and bonuses.

Morissette alleges that after she rejected the proposal, Urinov threatened to accuse her of drug trafficking. The singer is suing her former tour manager on claims including civil extortion, fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

Urinov has not publicly responded to the allegations in the filing. PEOPLE also reported that attempts were made to reach her for comment.
