Bilawal's 'Princess Gloria' denial couldn't stop the memes
From Dubai chocolate comparisons to bhabhi jokes, Twitter had a field day over the PPP chairman's marriage rumours

Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari spent Monday afternoon denying he was engaged to anyone named "Princess Gloria".
The viral engagement reports originated from online claims asserting that he was set to marry into a prominent Austrian royal family in Vienna later this year. Social media users speculated that President Asif Ali Zardari and other family members had personally travelled to Austria to finalise the arrangements and set a wedding date, linking the politician to Liechtenstein and Austrian lineage.
Addressing the flurry of memes and viral chatter, Bilawal took to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight:
ایک تو سوشل میڈیا نے میری بات پکی کروادی، منگنی اور شادی بھی کروادی ہے
— Bilawal Bhutto Zardari (@BBhuttoZardari) August 31, 2026
میں واضح کروں کہ ایسا کچھ نہیں ہوا ہے اور نہ ہی میں کسی پرنسز گلوریا کو جانتا ہوں

Whereas X's users spent Monday afternoon deciding that didn't matter, the memes had already started days before the denial, and his statement only threw fuel on the fire.
By the time Bilawal went on record to say he'd never heard of any Princess Gloria, the internet had already cast her.

The archduchess's full name did some heavy lifting too, inspiring comparisons to Pakistan's other recent European obsession.

Then there was the reaction contingent, Twitter's favourite genre, imagining how other political figures would take the news. First up, Sheikh Rasheed:

And Nawaz Sharif wasn't spared either:

One user found a different heartbreak angle entirely:
Dil tootne ki wajah Bilawal ki shaadi nahi, unka wo 'Kaampay Tang Rahi Hain' wala Urdu accent hoga jo dulhan ko roz sunna parega!" 😭 https://t.co/vEC11wK9j4

Others used old videos of politicians reciting poetry over the heartbreak:

While some couldn't hold back on wondering when their own prince is arriving:

Ek Mera Prince hai Jo abhi tak lapata hai 😏
While social media continues to fuel the meme cycle surrounding the mythical royal alliance, the official stance remains unequivocal: no engagement has taken place, no wedding is scheduled, and the PPP chief maintains he has never met the elusive Austrian princess.
