Four annual DPC meetings made mandatory for educators' promotions

In a bid to speed up the promotion process of teachers across Punjab, it has been made mandatory to hold Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings four times a year.

The School Education Department has taken an important step to make the process of departmental promotions of teachers and other employees across the province faster, transparent and timely, issuing formal directions to all chief executive officers (CEOs) of districts in Punjab to hold DPC meetings four times a year.

According to a notification issued by the School Education Department Punjab, DPC meetings must be held in January, April, July and October. All chief executive officers have been clearly directed to ensure that all four DPC meetings of the year are completed by October 2026 in all circumstances.

The Education Department has also made it clear that four promotion meetings every year are mandatory under the rules, and strict disciplinary action will be initiated against officers who fail to hold promotion meetings according to the prescribed schedule.

The School Information System portal will also be opened four times a year.

An important feature of the notification is that instead of limiting the departmental promotion process to DPC meetings, a schedule has also been fixed to advance the promotion process on the SIS portal four times a year.

According to the prescribed schedule, departmental promotion committee meetings will be held in the first week of January, April, July and October every year, while tagging of employees on the School Information System for promotion will take place in the third week and the round for actualisation of promotions will be opened in the fourth week.

The performance of CEOs and DEOs will be reviewed on the basis of timely disposal of promotion cases.
