DSP, SHO injured in DI Khan attack

DERA ISMAIL KHAN:

Six police personnel, including a DSP and SHO, were injured on Saturday when terrorists opened fire on their vehicles in Dera Ismail Khan, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Mubashir Makin confirmed.

The attack occurred within the jurisdiction of Hathala police station.

Those among the injured included Kalaachi DSP and Hathala SHO.

The RPO said the sudden gunfire caused the DSP's vehicle to veer off the road and overturn, injuring DSP, ASI Nauman Khan, Constables Qasim and Hashim, gunman Ghulam Saeed and Lady Constable Amber Altash.

"The injured police personnel were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan for treatment," Makin said.

A heavy police contingent reached the site after receiving information about the incident, while additional personnel were dispatched from Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines in Dera Ismail Khan.

The area was cordoned off and an operation was launched against the terrorists.
