Murad challenges Rs2.5m damages

ISLAMABAD:

PTI leader Murad Saeed has approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against a district court ruling ordering him to pay Rs2.5 million in damages to Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.

In his appeal, Saeed has requested the high court to set aside the decree and suspend the execution of the district court's decision until the appeal is finally decided.

Islamabad Additional District and Sessions Judge Hakem Khan ordered Murad Saeed on July 29 to pay damages to the federal minister, who belongs to the PML-N.

Challenging the verdict, Saeed contended that the trial court's decision was contrary to the solid facts and evidence available on record.

He maintained that the press conference in question had been based on official records and information obtained from the Federal Investigation Agency.
