Tim Curry once gave an unexpected and hilarious answer when asked whether there had been a great love in his life, naming an unlikely romantic partner: Miss Piggy.

The beloved actor, who died at the age of 80 on August 25, 2026, was known for keeping his personal life private and never married or had children. However, a 2019 interview with fellow actor Charlie Adler has resurfaced following Curry's death, offering a typically playful glimpse into his sense of humour.

During the interview, Adler asked Curry whether there had ever been "one great love" in his life that got away and that he regretted losing.

"Sure. There always is," Curry replied before delivering the punchline: "Miss Piggy. I'll tell you, once you've had pork, you never go back."

Adler followed up by asking whether Miss Piggy had lived up to what people said about her.

"Everything and more," Curry responded.

When Adler then asked whether their romance had only been a fling during their movie together, Curry continued the joke, replying, "Well, you know. It happens."

The joke had a connection to Curry's role in the 1996 film Muppet Treasure Island. Curry played the pirate Long John Silver, while Miss Piggy, performed by Frank Oz, portrayed Benjamina Gunn. The two characters share a brief kiss in the film, providing the perfect setup for Curry's later joke about their supposed romance.

Curry's playful comments also stand in contrast to how seriously he guarded his real romantic life. In his 2025 memoir Vagabond, the actor wrote that he had experienced "true love" and heartbreak but made clear that he had no interest in discussing the details publicly.
