PTA, NCCIA raid illegal SIM recharge setup

The PTA, Zonal Office Gilgit, in coordination with the NCCIA, Gilgit, conducted a successful raid against an illegal setup involved in the recharging of mobile balance through illegally issued SIMs at residential premises located behind NLI Market, Gilgit.

Following information regarding the misuse of SIMs for the remote recharging of mobile accounts to exploit the tax-exempt status of Gilgit-Baltistan, the raid was conducted.

Such illegal activity not only undermines the regulatory framework governing the issuance and use of SIMs but also results in significant revenue losses to the government and the public exchequer, said a statement.
