Three killed, six injured in DG Khan road crash

DG KHAN:

Three people were killed and six others injured, two of them critically, when a speeding loader vehicle collided head-on with a trailer on the Dera Ghazi Khan-Peshawar Bypass Road on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 officials said the accident occurred near the Toll Plaza and Danish School when a tyre of the speeding loader vehicle burst, causing its driver to lose control before it crashed into the oncoming trailer.

Three people died at the scene, while six others sustained injuries in the collision.

District Emergency Officer Engineer Ahmad Kamal said the deceased belonged to the same tribe and were identified as Abbas, Muhammad Ibrahim and Muhammad Sadiq.

The injured were identified as Rashid, 30, Farooq, 50, Shakir, 25, Arshad, 36, Talib, 34, and Nasrullah, 40.

Rescue teams reached the site and shifted the injured to the Trauma Centre of Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan for treatment.

Medical Superintendent Dr Mansoor Afghan said two of the injured were in critical condition, while all the victims were being provided medical treatment and necessary facilities.

Rescue officials said preliminary findings indicated that excessive speed was the likely cause of the accident, although the circumstances were being investigated.

The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after completion of the necessary legal procedures and transported to their native area, Basti Sehrani.
