Hina murder probe intensifies

RAWALPINDI:

Police investigating the alleged murder of 45-year-old Hina Javed intensified their probe, conducting DNA and polygraph tests on two arrested suspects while questioning her father-in-law, as scrutiny also turned to old lectures delivered by her arrested husband.

A special investigation team, headed by Investigation SSP Saifullah, took Hina's husband Faisal Asghar Imam and domestic worker Zeeshan to Lahore under tight security on Tuesday. Their samples were submitted to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) for DNA and polygraph examinations.

Hina's father-in-law, Asghar Fayyaz Imam, who has been included in the investigation, accompanied the team and was questioned before they returned to Rawalpindi.

Police sources said the DNA results are expected in about three weeks, while the polygraph reports are likely within three days. Investigators are also examining forensic, scientific, technical and human-intelligence evidence before determining the role of each suspect.

Hina was found dead at her in-laws' home on August 20 after her father-in-law reportedly informed police that burglars had entered the house. Officers found her body tied to a shower in the bathroom, with her hands bound behind her back. The suspicious circumstances prompted police to register a murder case and arrest her husband and the domestic worker.

A preliminary post-mortem report found a fracture to a neck bone and injuries to Hina's ribs and hip. Samples, including those required for DNA analysis, were sent to a forensic laboratory. The precise cause of death has yet to be established and will be determined after the complete post-mortem and forensic reports.

Meanwhile, police sources have drawn attention to old YouTube lectures by Faisal Asghar, who reportedly taught corporate communication at several universities. In one lecture, he asks a student why a husband might shoot his wife and discusses hypothetical scenarios involving marital relationships, infidelity and financial motives.
