Dan Stevens lands iconic role as 'RoboCop' in Prime Video series
Dan Stevens will play Alex Murphy and 'RoboCop' in Prime Video’s eight-episode sci-fi series based on the franchise

Dan Stevens is set to take on one of science fiction’s most recognisable roles, playing Alex Murphy and his cyborg alter ego RoboCop in Prime Video’s upcoming RoboCop series.
The eight-episode series is based on the MGM film franchise and comes from showrunner Peter Ocko and the production team at Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Amazon MGM Studios greenlit the project last month after several years in development, with Stevens emerging as the leading choice for the title role.
The new RoboCop series will follow a technology corporation that persuades a city to introduce a powerful robot into its police force. The machine is implanted with the consciousness of Murphy, a respected police officer who has died.
The series will offer a contemporary take on the themes established by Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 RoboCop film, including technology, identity and corporate influence. Ocko serves as showrunner and executive producer, while James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett will executive produce through Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner, who co-wrote the original RoboCop movie, are also attached as executive producers.
Peter Weller originated the role of RoboCop in the 1987 film and returned for RoboCop 2 in 1990. Robert Burke played the character in RoboCop 3, while Joel Kinnaman starred in the 2014 remake.
The Prime Video series adds another major project to Stevens’ growing television slate. He recently completed production on Legacy of Spies, a series adaptation for MGM+, and is also appearing in the second season of Paramount+’s Dexter: Resurrection.
Stevens is also set to appear in upcoming films including Onslaught, Babies and Godzilla x King: Supernova, expanding his profile across television and film.
