Pakistani shooter Mohsin Nawaz competes at King of 1 Mile in South Africa

NBP-backed marksman makes history in extreme long-range shooting, expanding Pakistan’s presence on the global stage

Marking a significant milestone for Pakistani sports, premier shooter Mohsin Nawaz recently delivered a standout performance at the prestigious King of 1 Mile (KO1M) competition in South Africa. Representing Pakistan in extreme long-range shooting, Mohsin Nawaz’s participation marked Pakistan’s first-ever individual representation at this level of international competition. Backed by official sponsor National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), his appearance signals a major boost for non-traditional athletics and highlights Pakistan’s growing presence on the international extreme long-range shooting stage.

The KO1M tournament is widely regarded as one of the most rigorous tests of precision marksmanship, requiring competitors to strike steel targets at distances stretching up to 1,760 yards. Success in this elite discipline demands mastery over advanced ballistics science, custom firearms, and environmental variables such as severe bullet drop and unpredictable wind patterns.

Hailing from Faisalabad, Nawaz brings over two decades of competitive experience and a distinguished track record. Over his career, he has accumulated 10 international individual medals, including notable podium finishes at the 2022 Western Bisley Long Range Championship, a record-matching silver medal at the 2023 European Championship at 800 yards, and subsequent honors at the 2024 European Long Range Shooting Championship and the NRA UK Imperial Championship.

In addition to his athletic pursuits, Nawaz serves as a high-performance sports psychologist. The Traditional Sports & Games Pakistan Association (TSGPA) appointed him as its Official Sports Psychologist, leveraging his expertise. Nawaz holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani shooter to secure Lifetime Memberships with both the National Rifle Association of the United Kingdom and the National Rifle Association of the United States.
